🏏 Another exciting weekend of cricket 🏏 n nOur jam-packed weekend started with the rightly much lauded away trip to Methlick. nPCC won the toss, bowling well as a unit managed to beat the bat on multiple occasions. With a plethora of bowlers, we were able to rotate the bowling attack. However, wickets fell sporadically with Ben, Andy B and Ankush contributing and Jake Sonny Bill Williams on to the stumps to complete a run out. The experienced Methlick batters stuck in and kept wickets in hand to allow them to go hard later in the innings. nnA decent total of 164 achieved by playing some big shots at the end.n nAfter the best tea in cricket Portcullis looked to start strong in their chase. However, some quality opening bowling made things very difficult. After a meek start, PCCs middle order started to turn the tide and increase the run rate. Stuart and Ankush scored more freely off the change bowlers. Then a couple of quick wickets slowed things down for a period. In hindsight the batters still could have been more ruthless; with MCC unfortunately being reduced to 10 men for several overs. nIt was getting tight at the end and Methlick held their nerve to take it to the final over. With 10 required it came down to another final ball thriller! However, this one went the other way. Andy B and Kannan tried their best, but it was too much with the big boundaries and smart fielding. nnPCC 163/7 two runs short from winning.n nA2Z Player of the Match goes to Ankush who bowled tidily, fielded well and increased the run rate with his smart batting. nThanks to MCC - Methlick Cricket Club for an excellent day of cricket.n nSunday brought a new challenge; T20 Bon Accord Cup Match at the Inverdee 2 wilderness.nWe arrived with enough cut grass to fill a silo of fodder. Even after yesterday’s disappointing result the guys were in good spirits and were greeted by the friendly faces of AGSFPs. nConfident captain Jake won the toss and opted to bat after we showed we struggled to chase the day before. After some of the best opening bowling we’ve seen in a while we quickly found ourselves 2 wickets down. Swashbuckling Sudhir on debut took on the quality bowlers however it was the partnership between Jake and Shovon that got us back into the game. The latter looked determined to take us to a good score finishing on 33. Kannan also pushed us on at the end before the opening bowlers came back on take the remaining wickets. nPCC 113 a decent score; especially considering the outfield.nWhen PCC took to the field everyone played a vital part in keeping the pressure on the batting side. Tight bowling lines and accurate fielding forced false shots from the batsmen and run outs from Vinay/Owen and Kannan. Bowlers smartly bowled to their field and managed to keep Grammar 2nds to 76 all out.n nThanks also to AGSFP Cricket Club!
