Is a Lasting Power of Attorney(LPA) the same as a Will? No, a Will is for when you’re dead- it sets out your wishes about who you want to pass your money onto, who should be guardians for your children and who you want to protect long term. A Lasting Power of Attorney is for when you're alive- it allows to manage your finances, make health decisions in your best interests or advocate for you if you lose capacity, as long as it's been registered while you're fit and well. It's powers stop as soon as you pass away. So even if someone is named as your executor in your Will, they have no power to act as your attorney, And likewise, the people you name as your attorneys on your LPA have no power to act over your Will if they’re not your executor.
