The High Court found that VW had fitted cars with devices specifically intended to deceive tests designed to detect emissions harmful to the environment. In doing so, VW deceived both official agencies and their customers who had paid a premium for what they thought was a greener option. Thompsons are currently fighting for similar justice in the Scottish system.
